Stop forcing me to use Internet Explorer!

I’m fairly new to Mozilla Firefox. If you haven’t heard of Firefox, or if you just haven’t switched yet, you might consider checking it out. It’s an open source (I believe) internet browser and I just love it. I started using Firefox about a year and a half ago, when I discovered their tabbed browsing feature - something that Microsoft’s Explorer has since implemented, but I have grown to love my Firefox.

Thing is…there are certain websites that I can’t access with Firefox because they don’t support any browsers besides Explorer. That really burns me…tee hee…get it? Firefox-burns me…anyway….

I really can’t believe that Top Producer is among the three sites in three days that I have been unable to access with Firefox. How frustrating! I don’t think there’s any good reason for it. If there is, I wish someone would enlighten me.

Is anyone else with me here?

And can anyone share their favorite Firefox features with me? I don’t use it to its full potential. I know it has lots of cool capabilities, but I haven’t really had the time to learn much about it.

I would love to hear what you do with your Firefox.

I have used Firefox for many years now and I have several add-ons that I can’t live without:

First and foremost- go get yourself the ‘IE Tab’ extension add-on- it will save you the headache of “those types” of websites. It gives you the option under tools menu and as a right-click to switch to IE in one tab and all the rest will still be firefox.

Next would be one I only found recently- ‘Morning Coffee’- it lets you bookmark all the sites you want to open at once first thing in the morning(or whenever). I know you can do that with regular bookmarks then “open all in tabs” but this way it’s a one-click on your toolbar.- Awesome timesaver

Third would be the ‘Secure Log in’- I use firefox’s built in feature to save my sign-ins & passwords and this add-on gives you one-click access (again on the toolbar) to fill in & submit your sign-in/passwords instead of firefox entering the info automatically (sometimes I don’t want to sign in)

Lastly, the one I haven’t used much but d/l about 2 weeks ago-’AutoFill Forms’- Works like roboform yet is integrated into firefox nicely. I’ve used it a couple times and it did the job.

Hope these help you. Sorry about making this a novel but I am a bit of a Firefox (and anything Opensource) fanatic. ;-)

Hang in there, VERY SOON you WILL be able to use FireFox … VERY VERY SOON!

Without using an add-on (like “Morning Coffee”) you can set all tabs as your “Home Pages” (choose “Use Current Pages”) to achieve the same thing as soon as FireFox opens.

Or, better yet, if you shutdown your computer without closing FireFox first it will open up the next time right where you left off, with all tabs and pages, before you shutdown.

    Some of my favorite add-ons:

IE Tab as mentioned above, but just know there are still a few sites that won’t work even with that. But, the list is reduced substantially. :)

Colorful Tabs is just fun. :)

Minimize to Tray. This is an absolute MUST have for me. When you close FF instead of closing it it moves it to your system tray leaving all your tabs open. I love this! I always have my time tracking software, team collaboration site, and mygoogle open, this way I can minimize the clutter in my task bar but still keep the sites open and active. LOVE it!

    Hello!

Ever since I installed Roboform, a program that saves all my user names and passwords, Internet Explorer crashes every time I use it. Not to mention that fact that I get Vista errors when I use it. I have been using Mozilla since last year and I too have grown to love it. I enjoyed reading this post and all the comments…I definitely learned something. :)

    Thanks for the great post!
